⭐️ Here's the latest scoop...
Councillors opposed to the decision to progress the concept plan have lodged a formal motion to rescind that decision. The mayor has decided to call an extraordinary meeting to debate this motion at 8am on Saturday morning (30th April). They want to keep the community away - but we need to show them we won't give up so easily.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Woollahra Council votes to alert NSW Premier over Betts’ Bondi Pavilion plans
SAVE BONDI PAVILION·WEDNESDAY, APRIL 27, 2016
Waverley Mayor Sally Bett’s push to commercialise Bondi Pavilion has suffered a further setback following Woollahra Council’s decision to alert the NSW Premier about the upgrade, Kilty O’Brien, spokesperson for Friends of Bondi Pavilion said.
The Woollahra Council motion requests that the NSW Premier review whether the Pavilion upgrade plan complies with the Office of Local Government Guidelines on Council Decision making during merger periods. The motion was moved by Greens councillor Matthew Robertson and seconded by Liberal councillor Andrew Petrie.
Ms O’Brien who spoke to Woollahra Council tonight said, “If Woollahra and Waverley Councils are forced to amalgamate Woollahra could be burdened with a massive financial debt for a project that the Woollahra community has had no say in and would be locked out of.
“With a $38 million dollar price tag and Mayor Betts not disclosing how the money will be raised Woollahra Councillors and residents have a right to know what Waverley Council is up to.
“If the Bondi Pavilion upgrade is pushed through in its current form community classes will be lost not only to the Pavilion but to our whole community. Woollahra residents will also lose out.
